Color, light and pattern are the main focus of my wired glass sculpture. Color is particularly active in glass, constantly shifting as the light and point of view changes. Surface texture can be equally variable, appearing and disappearing depending upon the light. Art glass is especially open to these possibilities when incorporated into freestanding sculpture. In an outdoor setting it can display a range of different qualities throughout the day and seasons.

My current sculpture has an underlying grid pattern formed by the structural framework. Square glass units suspended by wire fill the framework, and from a distance appear to float in space. Overlaying the grid is the primary glass pattern. I am exploring repetitive graphic shapes that form larger fields, and geometric designs that progress through a sequence. In addition, the location plays into the composition as it shows through the open grid and intermixes with the glass design.

These pieces can be placed in both indoor and outdoor locations. They can help define and animate large interior spaces such as entry lobbies, reception areas and other gathering places. Outside, they can provide a dynamic focal point in garden settings, courtyards or the natural landscape. In all settings they will change with the light, providing a varied visual experience.
